Normally, it requires 1-2 weeks following the principal disease because of its adaptive immune reaction to start clearance of the disease through the activity of cells or effect and antibodies. After a disease has been removed, both innate and adaptive immune reactions cease. Antibodies and residual cells or effect are still offer protective immunity, while memory cells provide long term immunologic protection against subsequent infection
